JT-Minnie Maude Charitable Trust: New Scholarships Awarded
(Danville, Virginia) May 22, 2008 – The Board of Trustees of the J.T. – Minnie Maude Charitable Trust (a trust, announced in October 2007 and formed through the generosity of James T. Emerson) is pleased to announce that $488,000 has been awarded in scholarships for the 2008-2009 academic year. The Trust offered scholarship opportunities to students who resided in Caswell, Halifax, Henry, Pittsylvania and Rockingham counties. Individual scholarship amounts ranged from $500 to $7,500. Awards were made to 94 students who are already enrolled in college and to 131 graduating high school seniors.
Award recipients were selected based on academic success and promise, financial need and other selection criteria. Scholarships are renewable, provided the student continues to meet all scholarship criteria.
